Recap

The boys from the Forest City ventured down to Savannah, GA the weekend before St Patrick’s day to test their metal for the first time this season. Both sides came out of the gate firing, winning their first games.
The big difference this year was a calm confidence that came in the clutch in the final moments of first side’s match against TIME. Down by a try and a conversion for a good portion of the game, the Saders stayed poised, and with three minutes left, put in a score and a conversion of their own, tying up the game. The Crusaders lost shortly after the kickoff, but fought back for control and put the game away with a score in the corner as time expired for a 12-7 win.
The second side similarly had a collective presence in their opening match, as they slipped the punches that would knock a lesser squad out early. They knew that they had the power to move the ball at will. This point was emphasized especially by young Joe Wollerman, who made punishing runs from the fly-half position all weekend.
The second matches of the day did not yield W’s for either squad, but the lessons learned were well worth it. The set pieces showed marked improvement and with that brought marked confidence in the Crusaders attacks.
Crusaders went 1-1 on the day Sunday as the topside lost its match to NOVA and a certain Crusader lost a bet. The second side ended the campaign on a positive note securing a win against the Mighty Pigs.
